Bob Diehl, MBA, MHA

Bob joined the QVMC executive team in August 2010, as Vice President of Operations. His responsibilities include Quality, Performance Improvement, Risk Management, Accreditation Readiness, Strategic Planning, and Business Development.

Before coming to Queen of the Valley, Bob served for six years as VP of Strategic Planning at St. Mary Medical Center, a St. Joseph Health sister hospital in southern California. At St. Mary, he co-led the development of the hospital’s new Facility Master Plan, and the purchase of a site for the construction of a new acute care hospital and trauma center. He also organized the creation of a Medical Practice Foundation, and added several key specialties and service lines to the healthcare offerings in the high desert communities.

Bob’s career in healthcare started in 1993, serving hospitals directly and as a consultant. He specialized in hospital profitability, turnaround and reengineering with Stockamp & Associates consulting, and with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young’s healthcare practice. His career then progressed to business development and strategy roles with Tenet hospitals in southern California.

Bob holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, and a Master of Health Administration from USC’s School of Policy, Planning and Development. He is Green Belt certified in the St. Joseph Way lean methodologies. Bob is also a graduate of the Ministry Leadership Center in Sacramento, a three-year formation program for executives in Catholic healthcare. He holds life memberships in Mensa and the National Eagle Scout Association.
