Walt Mickens, FACHE
Walt Mickens is a senior healthcare executive with more than twenty-five years experience in acute care facilities including teaching, faith-based, non-profit, for profit, trauma center and community hospitals.
His areas of special expertise include the operation of integrated delivery systems; physician recruitment; strategic and operational planning; corporate board, medical staff and employee relations; community and political relationship building; facility master planning; managed care and financial management; continuum of care analysis; product line development; process redesign and improvement; contract negotiations; ambulatory care delivery; information technology; quality improvement initiatives; State and Federal compliance and labor relations.
Mr. Mickens has successfully planned and implemented a wide variety of clinical programs including hospitalist relationships, inpatient and outpatient surgery programs, employee and patient satisfaction efforts, service line planning and implementation. He has also overseen employee and community campaigns focusing on a variety of issues critical to health care delivery.
Before coming to Queen of the Valley, Walter Mickens served as CEO of Boca Raton Medical Center in Boca Raton, Florida. His previous administrative experience includes serving as chief operating officer for medical centers in California and Florida.
