(Napa, CA) - On February 26th, during National Heart Month, Queen of the Valley Medical Center and the American Heart Association (AHA) will present two inaugurate events at the Marriott Hotel & Spa in Napa.
In the afternoon, beginning at 2:30 p.m., the first "Heart of the Valley Expo" will provide free, educational presentations on how to live, eat, work and enjoy your way to excellent heart health. A series of free education programs including "Atrial Fibrillation." "Heart Healthy Foods," "Peripheral Artery Disease," "Core Fitness for Older Adults," "How Safe is My Heart During Sleep?", "Emotional Support for Caregivers" and other important topics.Free cholesterol and blood pressure testing will also be offered to the first 70 people.
That same evening, a dinner and fundraiser for "Project Heart Safe" will launch an initiative to install automatic external defibrillators (AED) in areas of need throughout Napa County. The featured speaker will be C. Tissa Kappagoda, MD, PhD, who will provide a presentation entitled "Wine, Grapes & Cardiovascular Health." Dr. Kappagoda has been a frequent lecturer throughout Europe and Asia on topics related to the effects of nutrition, natural food colorings and over consumption on obesity and health.
