On Friday, August 17, 2012, Napa will come alive with the sounds of laughter, music, the swish of golf swings, and the ping of tennis balls – all the usual sounds that mark Day for the Queen, the premier annual fundraiser for Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Each year the event brings out Napa Valley business and community leaders, athletes, trend setters, former patients and others in support of the hospital. The 35-year tradition is hosted and made possible by the Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation.
Taking place at Silverado Resort and Spa, the day is packed with fun activities including men's and women's tennis, golf, a fashion show and luncheon, evening cocktails, silent and live auctions, BBQ dinner and dancing. This year the event will also feature live music by Dave Martin's House Party.
The event will honor Tim Herman whose $1 million challenge grant helped fund the start-up of the Peggy Herman Neuroscience Center at Queen of the Valley. Tim also serves as co-chair of the Foundation's capital campaign, which aims to raise $30 million to support the building of one of the most technologically advanced and sustainably designed hospitals in the North Bay -- The Advanced Diagnostic and Surgical Pavilion. The Herman family has donated an additional $5 million in support of the facility. Proceeds from Day for the Queen will go towards a new hybrid surgical suite to be housed in the pavilion. The hybrid surgical suite is an operating room that combines the most advanced imaging capabilities with robotics and traditional surgery. The technology will aid physicians during the most difficult of surgeries, including complex cancer, heart and brain procedures.
"Individuals who participate in Day for the Queen have a unique opportunity to support a worthy cause – the advancement of world-class health care right here in the Napa Valley," said Herman.
This year's theme is "The Royal Queen in Paris." Tickets may be obtained for individual activities or as a package. Sponsorships and premium tables are also available.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $60 million for Queen of the Valley Medical Center's equipment and facilities, while increasing community awareness of the Medical Center's needs. More information on the Foundation may be found at queensfoundation.org.
