Neurosurgeon Vincent Morgese named Executive Vice President

Neurosurgeon Vincent Morgese named Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer for Queen of the Valley Medical Center

(Jan. 13 2012 -- Napa, CA) Queen of the Valley Medical Center President and Chief Executive Officer Walt Mickens today announced the appointment of Vincent Morgese, MD, as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer for Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The appointment of Morgese was effective January 1, 2012.

Dr. Morgese has been serving in this role on an interim basis since July, 2011, responsible for the efficient operations of Queen of the Valley Medical Center and oversight of the hospital's medical programs and quality initiatives. Working closely with physicians, directors and staff, he is also executive sponsor for the departments of Medical Staff Services, Quality/Performance Improvement, Compliance, Health Information Services, Clinical Information Services, Information Technology, Lab Services, Radiology, and Construction.

Among his accomplishments, Dr. Morgese has played a leadership role in the design and implementation of clinical quality, service improvement and facilities expansion efforts, as well as process improvement initiatives. He works closely with medical leadership from throughout St. Joseph Health, the parent organization of Queen of the Valley, as a participant in the health system's Physician Leadership Council.

Dr. Morgese is a neurosurgeon who has been practicing in the Napa Valley since 1993. He joined the executive management team at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in 2005 as Chief Medical Officer. He will continue to maintain a limited clinical practice while expanding his administrative roles and responsibilities.

Dr. Morgese holds a bachelor's degree in Biophysics from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctor of Medicine from Brown University. He completed his general surgery and neurosurgery residencies at Loma Linda University Medical Center and completed additional specialty spine training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is married to Victoria Morgese, MD, a board certified pediatrician who also has practiced in Napa since 1993. They have two children.
