Queen of the Valley Names Larry Coomes Chief Executive

03/20/2017

(Napa, Calif. – March 16, 2017) Queen of the Valley is pleased to announce that upon the recommendation of the Board Search Committee, Larry Coomes, FACHE, has been named the medical center’s permanent Chief Executive (CE), effective immediately.

Coomes became the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Queen of the Valley in December, 2015. He has served as the hospital’s Interim Chief Executive for the past five months and his leadership during this time has garnered the support of the hospital’s Board, physicians and staff.

“I am honored to be given this opportunity,” said Coomes. “I look forward to working collaboratively, alongside our talented caregivers, to continue to provide high-quality, compassionate care to our community.”

Coomes has more than 25 years of experience in business and executive leadership. Prior to joining our team, he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Tenet Health’s Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. Among his accomplishments there, he developed a five-year strategic plan to drive increased revenue and volumes; drove significant improvements in clinical quality and patient safety by instituting a transparent environment with a focus on trust and accountability; and led a cultural overhaul resulting in major improvements to physician, employee and patient satisfaction. Prior to his role at Tenet, Coomes served as CEO of Palmdale Regional Medical Center.
