Queen of the
Valley Unveils Latest Addition
To Their Medical Center
July 9, 2007
Napa, CA – Scheduled
to open in late July, Queen of the Valley Medical Center introduces
its new Outpatient Surgery & Procedure Center (OSPC). In response
to a high volume of outpatient procedures, the new 20,000-square-foot,
stand-alone facility will address same-day procedure and surgeries,
while allowing for an expansion of the medical center’s current
inpatient unit.
The new center includes four operating suites and four procedure rooms,
with separate pre-op and recovery areas. The surgery side features four
pre-op bays and eight post-op rooms, two of which can be for swing beds.
The procedure side has four pre-op bays, seven post-op rooms and a room
dedicated to colonoscopy prep with its own bathroom.
Each operating and procedure room is outfitted with new state-of-the-art
instrumentation placed on booms and controlled by flat screen monitors,
allowing physicians and nurses ample room to maneuver.
“The rooms were set up from the surgeon’s perspective,” said
Richard Miralles, Surgery Manager for the Outpatient Surgery and Procedure
Center. “It was a matter of what they needed to do the job more
comfortable and safely. That will ensure the maximum positive experience
for everyone – physician, nurse, and patient.”
The Outpatient Surgery & Procedure Center
will offer a variety of minimally invasive surgeries including general
procedures, orthopedic
procedures, eye care and ear, nose and throat procedures. In addition,
the center will also perform upper and lower gastrointestinal (GI) for
colonoscopies and gastroscopies, urodynamics and endoscopic ultrasound.
State-of-the-art small bowel studies, using a minute camera the size
of a small pill that the patient swallows to take photos of the intestines
will also available at the new center.
Cost for the OSPC is estimated at $22 million with a $250,000 donation
from the Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation to equip the 4th operating
room.
Operating hours for the center will be 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday. The Outpatient Surgery & Procedure Center is located
behind the main hospital.
