Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants demonstrate and teach patients how to use their body properly to decrease pain, gain strength and mobility, and prevent recurring injury. You’ll also find them advising on proper posture and ergonomics in the work place, treating injuries, consulting on fitness, and administering physical therapy in the home (through St. Joseph Home Health Agency).
Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants work together to meet the needs of clients with physical and mental challenges in order to develop activities of daily living (ADL) that work best for those clients. For a client with a physical disability, the first focus is on performing critical daily routines, such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and eating. Once these skills are mastered, a program is then built around the skills needed to perform tasks such as participating in education, caring for a home and family, or seeking and maintaining employment. Our Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and California Certified Hand Therapist are experts in rehabilitation of hand and arm injuries.
Speech-Language Pathologists help those who stutter to increase their fluency; help people who have had strokes or experienced brain trauma to regain lost language and speech; help children and adolescents who have language disorders to understand and give directions, ask and answer questions, convey ideas, improve the language skills that lead to better academic performance; counsel individuals and families to understand and deal with speech and language disorders. Our Speech-Language Pathologists are experts in treating patients who have difficulty swallowing and all are Vital-Stim certified for best possible treatment outcomes.
