Sr. Patricia Hayhurst, CSJ
Sister Patricia Hayhurst is a longtime educator in the Catholic School system, having served in schools staffed and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange as well as in two non-CSJ Catholic Schools. Teaching is her love and passion and she has successfully guided many students, K-8 to high achievements as well as to reach their God given talents through her personal tutoring, creative learning processes and individual mentoring.
Not only has Sr. Pat taught every grade, K-8, she has been a School Principal for 14 years, serving at St. George's School, Ontario, CA and St. Eugene's School, Santa Rosa, CA. Sr. Pat has been in some form of the learning, teaching, administration of Catholic Education for 38 solid years!
Sister Pat has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Loyola-Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA and a Life Time California Standard Teaching Credential. She also received her Masters Degree in Private School Administration from the University of San Francisco, CA.
She was honored with the Mother Elizabeth Seton Award from the Diocese of Oakland, which recognizes a teacher/administrator for their distinguished gifts and contributions to Catholic Education.
Sister Pat was a founding member of what currently is the CSJ Educational Network which is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph providing spiritual, curricular and relationship support to some 21 Catholic Schools throughout the state, influencing teachers, students, parents and administrators. Sister Pat, furthermore, serves on the Advisory Board of the CSJ Network.
Currently, Sr. Pat is a spiritual and curriculum writer for the CSJ Educational Network. Her writings are currently published in a monthly CSJ Educational Newsletter as well as web-site. These monthly writings and activities cover spiritual, curricular and theme based learning and enrichment for teachers, students, parents and administrators.
Sister Pat's educational background and love for learning has provided many life enriching experiences: Administration, Management, Curriculum Development, Instructional Processes, Human Relations and Communication. These gifts and skills she hopes will aid in her contribution to the Board of Trustees as she spends this first year as an intern on the Board.
