CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION LAB & ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LAB

Bringing you the best of health also means providing state-of-the-art treatment services for all aspects of cardiac disease. Queen of the Valley Medical Center's Regional Heart Center is committed to bringing the community many new treatment technologies. We also perform many state-of-the-art interventional procedures.  The Heart Center actively works on developing treatment options to enhance patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Our Heart Center now boasts two Cardiac Catheterization Labs which utilize sophisticated x-ray equipment to measure heart function and a staff of cardiac specialists to provide advanced interventional and medical treatments.  The hospital’s cardiology team, which includes triple board-certified interventional cardiologists and a staff of technicians and specially trained nurses, is on call 24 hours a day.

Procedures conducted in the Catheterization Lab  include:

  • Cardiac Catheterization
  • Balloon Angioplasty
  • Placement of stents

Sergio Manubens, MD, Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab, is one of three triple-board certified cardiologists at Queen of the Valley Hospital.  He emphasizes that new studies in the New England Journal of Medicine show that outcomes are better when troubled hearts reach the hospitals with full catheterization labs, not simply the closest hospital.

The Electrophysiology Lab provides a way for physicians to obtain a much more accurate picture of the heart's electrical system and pinpoint problems that can cause dangerous and potentially lethal irregularities of the heartbeat.  This technology has usually been available only in university hospitals and contributes to making the Heart Center a truly complete cardiac care service.

Procedures conducted in the Electrophysiology Lab include:

  • Ablation Therapy
  • Pacemaker Implantation
  • Resynchronization Therapy
  • Implantable Defibrillators
  • Arrhythmia Management
