Queen of the Valley’s Children’s Mobile Dental Clinic to Provide Free Screening at Napa Flea Market on February 22

As part of National Children’s Dental Health Month, Queen of the Valley Medical Center’s Children’s Mobile Dental Clinic will provide dental screenings for low-income children aged 16 years and under on Sunday, February 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (weather permitting), at the Napa Flea Market, 303 S. Kelly Road. Highway 29.

During this free screening, pediatric dentist Dr. Maryam Mohsenzadeh will examine children for cavities. Staff will be hand to schedule appointments for children living within Napa County who need further dental care or to refer children living outside of  Napa County needing follow-up care to their own dentists.

The Children’s Mobile Dental Clinic provides full-service, high-quality dental care to children of low-income families in Napa County. It travels to specific locations in Napa County neighborhoods to provide care to children under the age of 16, four days a week. Among the services provided are routine care, such as exams, cleanings, x-rays, sealants, and fluoride treatments/varnish, and restorative treatments, such as white fillings, root canals for primary teeth, crowns/caps, and extractions. In addition to treatment, children and their families receive oral health education about the causes of tooth decay, the importance of good nutrition, and how to practice good oral hygiene.

The Mobile Dental Clinic was founded by Queen of the Valley and its partners to address a major health need of children in the community: access to dental care.  "Last year, we saw almost 2,000 patients at the Mobile Dental Clinic, which indicates the level of need for this type of service for children, many of whom would otherwise not receive any dental care," says Jill Moss, manager for the Community Outreach Department.

For more information about the Mobile Dental Clinic, please call 251-2044. Queen of the Valley Medical Center’s Dental clinic also accepts the following dental insurance programs: Health Families, Kaiser Kids, Denti-Cal and Premier Access. The free screening event will be canceled if it rains.
