Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Cooperation with Congressman Mike Thompson hosts "Forum on Childhood Obesity"

(Napa, CA ) – On August 12, 2010, Queen of the Valley Medical Center along with Honorary Co-Host Congressman Mike Thompson will host a community forum on causes, effects, and possible solutions for the nationwide epidemic of Childhood Obesity.

Childhood obesity occurs when a child is well above the normal weight for his or her age and height. It is particularly troubling because the extra pounds often start children on the path to serious adult health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Childhood obesity can also lead to poor self-esteem and depression.

Joining Congressman Thompson at the Queen will be other area elected officials, physicians, educators and other national and regional experts on childhood obesity —along with Napa area residents who will share inspiring, personal experiences and successes in overcoming this nationwide epidemic.

Where: Queen of the Valley Medical Center – Main Conference Rooms
1000 Trancas Street, Napa

When: August 12, 2010, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
