(Napa, CA) - Queen of the Valley Medical Center (QVMC) has won the St. Joseph Health’s (SJHS) 2011 Annual Clinical Excellence Award. This is the second year in a row that the Queen has brought home this prestigious award recognizing the Queen’s commitment to the system-wide, strategic goal of striving to provide "Perfect Care".
"We are thrilled that our wonderful physicians, nurses and staff have once again demonstrated such consistent commitment to our patients, our community - and to the principles on which the Queen and the St. Joseph Health are based," says QVMC President/CEO Walt Mickens. "It is truly an honor to receive this wonderful award. As always, we will continue working every day to improve the level of care, service and quality we provide here at the Queen."
The SJHS Annual Clinical Excellence Award is based on performance in the combined areas of mortality rate, consistent use of evidence-based medicine, patient safety and cost management. Joining Queen of the Valley Medical Center this year is St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley, California.
Award winners are determined by comparing the relative performance of the 14 St. Joseph Health hospitals (located in California, Texas and New Mexico) with each other using survey tools administered by nationally recognized firms that collect and report similar statistics for hospitals and health systems around the country.
